On 7 February, Mel Jay, founder of Insurepreneur Academy and visionary behind Iron Sharpens Iron, hosted the 3rd Annual Women’s Conference at Ennerdale Ext 9 Hall. The event, held under the theme “Work Life Balance & Business,” brought together women from across the community to gain the tools, confidence, and networks needed to succeed in both their professional and personal lives.

Mel Jay in her address, highlighted the importance of financial literacy, education and collaborative growth, emphasising that sustainable success requires both strategy and community support.

“To the attendees, they came seeking inspiration, and they left equipped with tools, connections, and renewed purpose. Now it’s time to take action and be the hero of your own story,” said Mel Jay.

One of the keynote speakers, a pharmacist, author and strategist, Sharon Khosa, popular known as “The Success Coach,” shared career-building strategies drawn from her books Winning CV, Interview Success Secrets, and Want Success? Go Get It!

Khosa encouraged women to pursue excellence unapologetically and to position themselves intentionally for success in the workplace and in business. Her message centred on self-belief, preparation and the courage to seize opportunities.

Building on that foundation of self-empowerment, business coach and author, Nkanyezi Rose Kabemba, delivered a compelling address on resilience and personal responsibility. Referencing her book, You Are the Hero You Have Been Waiting For! Kabemba reminded attendees that transformation begins within. She urged women to take control of their narratives, embrace their strengths and step boldly into leadership roles in their communities and industries.

Organisers emphasised that the conference was more than a motivational gathering – it was a catalyst for change. “By bringing women together to share knowledge, experiences and encouragement, the event reinforced the idea that balancing work, life and business becomes more achievable when women support one another,” added Mel Jay

“When women are empowered, families and communities thrive,” Mel Jay concluded.
