Police have discovered hundreds of firearms and large quantities of ammunition stored on a smallholding outside eMalahleni, formerly known as Witbank.

The cache was uncovered during a law enforcement operation conducted on the property. Authorities believe the weapons belong to a registered gun dealer; however, preliminary findings suggest they may have been stored illegally on the plot, in possible contravention of firearm regulations.

All firearms and ammunition have since been seized for further investigation. Officials are working to determine whether the weapons were properly licensed, documented and stored in compliance with legal requirements.

At this stage, no arrests have been confirmed. Police say investigations are ongoing and further action may follow pending the outcome of compliance checks and forensic examination.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to enforcing firearm legislation and ensuring that all weapons are legally owned, properly accounted for and safely stored.
