A long-awaited housing project in Soweto has entered a new chapter, with 200 completed housing units at Jabulani Parcel K allocated to qualifying beneficiaries today.
The handover marks a significant milestone for a development that had previously been regarded as a blocked legacy project. After years of delays and uncertainty, the revival of Jabulani Parcel K is bringing renewed hope to families who have waited for the security and dignity of having a place to call home.
The formal allocation programme was attended by Minister of Human Settlements Thembi Simelane, Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements Tasneem Motara, City of Johannesburg Executive Mayor Dada Morero and MMC for Human Settlements Cllr Mlungisi Mabaso.
Government representatives joined beneficiaries as the completed homes were allocated, highlighting efforts to address housing backlogs and ensure that completed housing projects reach qualifying residents.

For the beneficiaries, however, the occasion represented far more than the allocation of a housing unit. Receiving a home provides families with greater stability, security and the opportunity to build their futures within their own communities.
The revival of Jabulani Parcel K also demonstrates the importance of completing previously stalled developments, particularly in communities where residents have spent years waiting for housing opportunities.
With 200 families now set to benefit from the completed units, the development represents tangible progress in housing delivery in Soweto.
