2024 enrollment now open at Lotus School of Excellence
Admissions for 2024 are now open at the Lotus school of Excellence – an Independent school situated in Lenasia Ext 10. The school began operating in 2017 catering for grade 1 to 9 and progressively to grade 12. In 2022 a grade R class was added.
The school is a registered entity with the Gauteng Department of Education with registration number 700400922. The school has been vetted and accredited by Umalusi. The school is further a member of the Independent Schools Association of South Africa (ISASA).
Lotus School of Excellence follows the CAPS curriculum monitored by the Gauteng Department of Education. The school follows a 60% pass mark internally for tests and assessment tasks for the first three terms, thereafter National Assessment criteria is applied. This is done to help learners aim for higher goals and better performance in all subjects.
Class sizes range between 3 and 25 (MAXIMUM) learners. These small class sizes ensure learners get the necessary individual attention. Support classes are designed to assist individual learners with their individual subject weaknesses.
The school is owned and led by RB Naidoo (Bangs) who has had over 40 years teaching experience, teaching at various with over 20 years as a Principal. All teachers are accredited by the South African Council of Educators (SACE). All teachers are experienced and qualified in their respective subjects. Our staff includes retired high ranking Education Department Officials, Ex principals and other Ex School Management Team members complimented by young, dedicated and vibrant younger blood.
The school has a functional Science Lab, equipped Computer Room, a Drawing room and a Hall. We have a fully functional library with a large quantity of books to encourage reading at the school. The school is equipped with smartboards in certain classes. We employ all other reasonable technology to enhance the child’s learning experience at the school. The school has limited solar power for those dreaded Load shedding days.
Extracurricular activities are provided by external service providers in activities such as Archery and Pottery. Chess is introduced to our learners from the Junior Primary Level. Coding and Robotics is taught from grade 1 up to grade 5 for now. Computer Literacy is offered at grade 8 and 9 level. We are hoping to introduce BALLROOM DANCING and SPEECH and DRAMA in the new year.
The school embarks on regular field trips and excursions to enhance classroom teaching and learning.
An annual Athletics meeting is held when possible/feasible.
The school actively participates in the Maths Challenge, Speech and Debating competitions and is also involved in the various Olympiads that are available.
Specialist subjects such as, Engineering Graphics Design, Tourism and Computer Applications Technology are among the many mainstream subjects offered at our school. Isizulu is offered at the Junior Primary level and will be moved up to higher grades progressively.
The school is a safe environment with CCTV cameras, On and Off-site security and a working relationship with Local Paramedics. The school is securely fenced to ensure proper access control and a high level of safety for our staff and learners.
The school uniform is available at the school for parents to purchase. Text book and stationery needs to be purchased by parents.
