The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) will implement extensive road closures around the Nasrec precinct from 10am on match day, with authorities urging motorists to use public transport and plan ahead.

Key routes affected include Nasrec Road, Soweto Highway, Crownwood Road, Rand Show Road and sections of the N1 and N17. Several intersections – including Nasrec Road with Colorado Drive and Adcock Ingram Avenue – will be impacted.

Pre-match measures will prioritise stadium-bound traffic. On Nasrec Road (southern side), three lanes between Adcock Ingram and Recreation Road will be dedicated to inbound vehicles, with one lane reserved for emergency services and traffic դեպի Southgate or the M1 North. On the northern side, a three-lane system will channel vehicles into designated parking areas.

Soweto Highway will be closed between Mentz Street and the N1 North on-ramp, restricted to Rea Vaya buses, park-and-ride services and authorised taxis. Crownwood Road and Booysens Reserve will be fully closed, with limited access for hospitality, VIPs and persons with disabilities.

General traffic from Soweto will be diverted via the N1 South on-ramp, Rand Show Road and Golden Highway toward Expo Centre parking.

Post-match, Nasrec Road will operate as a four-lane one-way outbound route to ease congestion. Adcock Ingram Avenue will be closed to incoming traffic at Nasrec Road, directing vehicles toward Rifle Range Road. Aerodrome Road will funnel traffic toward Soweto, with no right turns onto Rand Show Road permitted. The N1 South and N17 off-ramp will be closed during egress to prevent incoming flow.

Authorities strongly recommend public transport. Rea Vaya buses will operate from multiple points, while metered taxis will run from Soweto, the Johannesburg CBD and Southgate. Park-and-ride facilities will be available at Ellis Park Stadium, Southgate Mall, Nasrec open grounds (Colorado Drive), Orlando Stadium and the Apartheid Museum. Dedicated buses will run from Montecasino, Clearwater Mall, Sandton City and Park Station, with additional Gautrain-linked buses from Park Station.

Residents near FNB Stadium, particularly in Riverlea and Ormonde, are advised to expect disruptions and adjust travel plans. JMPD officers will be deployed to manage traffic and ensure safety.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes including the N1, M1 and N12 highways, Main Reef Road, Crownwood Road, Aerodrome Road and Adcock Ingram Avenue.
