On 12 April, a 45-year-old man, Mlungisi Dlamini was shot and killed in Mazibuko Park, Finetown.

South African Police Service (SAPS) Gauteng spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi told GLOBE POST: “Officers responded to a call in the area, on arrival, they found a black male lying face down in the street with blood next to his head. Police immediately cordoned off the scene and called paramedics who later declared the man dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was walking home with his girlfriend when two unknown suspects approached and opened fire.”

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body and head. Officers recovered five 9mm cartridges and one bullet fragment at the scene. The deceased’s body was subsequently transported to the Sebokeng Mortuary for further examination.

“The motive of the shooting is subject to police investigations and anyone with information that can assist with the investigation is requested to contact the Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111,” Nevhuhulwi added.

No arrests have been made at this stage of investigations.
