The family of 38-year-old Mazhar Ameer is in mourning after his remains were positively identified more than five months after he was reported missing from Lenasia South in Johannesburg in December.

According to information received by the family, authorities confirmed that human remains believed to be Ameer’s had been discovered following an extensive search and investigation into his disappearance.

His brother later confirmed the identification at a mortuary in Roodepoort, bringing a painful end to months of uncertainty and search efforts by loved ones.

Police have since confirmed that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the case. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death.

The family has expressed deep grief as they come to terms with the loss after months of hoping for his safe return.

This is a developing story.
