In a heart-wrenching incident on Sunday evening, 1 October, officers from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) responded to a fatal accident at the intersection of Golden Highway and Provincial Road in Finetown. The incident involved a motor vehicle and two young pedestrians, resulting in a devastating loss.

According to JMPD spokesperson, Superintendant Xolani Fihla, the victims of this tragic accident were two female pedestrians, aged 9 and 11, who were struck by an unknown vehicle which did not stop to render aid or provide assistance after the collision.

Tragically, the two young pedestrians sustained fatal injuries as a result of the accident, leaving the community of Finetown and their families in mourning.

In response to this heartrending incident, a case of culpable homicide has been officially opened at the Ennerdale South African Police Service (SAPS) station.

This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving. It is a collective responsibility to ensure the safety of all road users, particularly the most vulnerable members of our community, such as children.

GLOBE POST joins in mourning the loss of these two young lives, and our thoughts and prayers are with their grieving families during this difficult time.

We urge anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and assist the authorities in their investigation. Every piece of information, no matter how small, can be crucial in bringing closure to the affected families and ensuring justice is served. To provide info, contact CrimeStop on 08600 10111.
