Nominations open for Order of Legendary Lenasians Awards

Nominations for the Order of Legendary Lenasians Awards have opened with the public now able to nominate any person that has rendered meritorious voluntary community service involving a high degree of dedication and sacrifice, which is of lasting benefit to the residents of Greater Lenasia.

The Order of Legendary Lenasians Awards is a non-profit community recognition concept developed by veteran broadcaster, journalist and author Fakir Hassen to recognise the role of individuals past and present.

The Order of Legendary Lenasians will not be restricted to people living in Lenasia only, but to anyone, even from outside the area, who has made a lasting impact on the lives of the community of the area.

The Order will take the form of a medallion and a certificate, which will be conferred on recipients at the event at the Patidar Hall in Lenasia on 7 October 2023 at 5pm. The event, at which leading entertainers will perform between the Awards in each of the ten categories, will be open to the public.

An award will be made in each of the ten following categories to living persons. In addition, one award in each category will be made posthumously.

  • POLITICAL LEADERSHIP
  • PHILANTHROPY
  • SOCIAL WELFARE

Members of the public are invited to submit nominations, not exceeding 300 words, before 31 August 2023, BY EMAIL ONLY, to fakir@vodamail.co.za

Each person may only be nominated in ONE of the ten categories. Please include the nomination category, full name, address and contact details of the nominee (or family member or representative in the case of a posthumous nomination) and of the person submitting the nomination. Finalists will be notified by the end of September.

A panel comprised of recognised community leaders from Lenasia will assess nominations from the public to finalise the selection of the finalists in each category. The decision of the panel will be final and no correspondence in this regard will be entered into.

The Awards event will be open to the public, with each ticket being exchanged for at least one can or dry food item, which will be distributed to organisations providing relief to the needy after the event.

There will be no sale of tickets for cash or cash donations accepted.

Ticket availability details will be advised later.

It’s time to acknowledge the unsung heroes and heroines of Lenasia. Send in your nominations now!
