Residents in Lenasia have been urged to remain vigilant after an armed robbery at a home in Extension 13 left residents, including a senior citizen, traumatised.
The incident reportedly took place at approximately 3am on Tuesday, October 6, at a property on Jewel Avenue, Extension 13. Seven armed suspects allegedly restrained the residents before looting the property.Globe Post reporter Mpho Joy Khumalo reached out to community representative Adheep Mahabeer for further information. Mahabeer confirmed that one of the vehicles was stolen during the early hours of the morning and said the Lenasia Southbound Community Policing Forum (CPF) came together to assist in locating the vehicle.
According to a community message from Al Jama-ah member of Parliament and leader Imraan Moosa, two vehicles were stolen during the robbery: White Kia Sportage – FX85ZFGP and a Red Polo Hatchback – KB13TGGP The red Polo has since been recovered in Lenasia Extension 10, while the Kia Sportage remains outstanding.

Moosa expressed his appreciation to the CPF, particularly Ahmed Abed, for responding after he alerted the community about the incident. He also thanked the South African Police Service (SAPS) for its response. Saaberie also assisted the traumatised residents following the robbery, including checking their blood pressure.Moosa has urged residents to remain particularly vigilant as the festive season approaches, especially when travelling, entering or leaving their homes and attending community gatherings.
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity to SAPS immediately and remain alert in their neighbourhoods.
