Residents, Lenasia South SAPS and the Community Policing Forum Sector 3 gathered at BP Starling on 14 March for a focused community outreach programme aimed at strengthening practical solutions to growing safety challenges in the area.

Led by CPF Sector 3 Chairperson, Raksha Soni and SAPS Sector Manager, Sgt Takalani Malisha, the session created an important platform for direct engagement between residents, law enforcement and local safety stakeholders.

While discussions highlighted the concerning rise in home invasions and related crimes, the focus remained firmly on solutions and the role residents can play in improving safety in their neighbourhoods.

Attendees were encouraged to strengthen collaboration with key safety structures, including the CPF, SAPS and private security companies. Emphasis was placed on improving communication, increasing visibility and working together to ensure quicker, more coordinated responses to crime.

Speaking to GLOBE POST, Soni said: “The safety of our community depends on all of us working together .We have the structures in place, what we need now is stronger community participation and consistent involvement.”

Among the key solutions discussed were heightened neighbourhood vigilance, more active use of community communication platforms and regular participation in sector meetings to address issues proactively.

However, organisers raised concern over the low turnout at the outreach, noting that meaningful change depends on broader community involvement.

Soni also expressed appreciation to local security companies for their continued partnership, which plays a vital role in strengthening coordinated safety efforts across Sector 3.

Community leaders emphasised that sustained engagement not once-off meetings remains key to tackling crime and building a safer Lenasia South Sector 3.
