City Power cracks down on illegal electricity connections in Lenasia and Nancefield

On 4 December, City Power’s Lenasia SDC removed illegal electricity connections near the Lenasia Civic Centre.

Meanwhile, in Nancefield, a scrapyard was discovered to have illegally reconnected to the electricity grid despite being disconnected on 18 September 2024. The scrapyard, classified as a Large Power User (LPU), was found operating without a meter.

Investigations revealed T-joints used to connect heavy machinery to the mini substation, with further suspicions that electricity was unlawfully supplied to neighbouring properties.

Upon inspection, multiple unauthorised cables were discovered running from the property to nearby locations. Such illegal actions pose serious risks, including infrastructure damage and safety hazards to the surrounding community.

City Power is intensifying efforts to combat these dangerous practices and protect infrastructure integrity.
