ATM delivers on promises with donations to Hospital Hills’ Siphosakhe Community Centre
On Saturday, 2 November, members of the African Transformation Movement (ATM) visited the Siphosakhe Community Centre in the Hospital Hills Informal Settlement where they fulfilled their commitment to the local community by donating three Jojo water tanks, groceries and vegetables for the community’s soup kitchen.
Ward 120 ATM representative, Servant Mpho Seleso, was on hand to oversee the donations, emphasizing that this was not the first time the party has supported the community in this way.
“It is a privilege to be here today, providing much-needed water tanks, vegetables, and groceries. The demand for water tanks is high in this community, given the critical water shortages faced by residents. This is the third time we are assisting with such donations, and we will continue to do so as long as there is a need,” said Seleso.
Lubabalo Magwentshu, the ATM City of Johannesburg Regional Chairperson and Councillor, highlighted that their support was a direct response to the concerns expressed during the party’s election campaign trail. “When we were campaigning for the national elections, we met many people who raised the issues of water shortages and a lack of toilet facilities. As a self-sustaining party, we promised to return and help once we had the resources, and we are fulfilling that promise today,” said Magwentshu.
He recalled a community member who had been apprehensive about whether ATM would deliver on their campaign promises, adding: “One community member shared how he was unable to sleep the night before, worried that we were like all the other parties that make empty promises. But ATM is committed to serving our community, and we have proven that we are not just here to talk—we deliver.”
Siya Gugwana, a community leader in the Hospital Hills settlement, expressed his gratitude to the ATM team saying: “We appreciate everything ATM has done for us. As a new party, they go above and beyond to support us, and we can always count on them when we need help. I’ve been here since 1996, and getting assistance was always a struggle, but with ATM, we don’t have to fight for what we need.”
With continued support and action, ATM is proving that political promises can be more than just words—they can be transformed into tangible results for the communities that need it most.
