Dedicated community leader, Paseka Ramathebane from Vlakfontein Ext 3 has been nominated for the prestigious 365 Men’s Awards in the Community Development Man of the Year category.

Known in the community as DJ Phaka, Ramathebane’s nomination comes as no surprise to those familiar with his relentless efforts to uplift his neighbourhood. As the founder and president of Region G Community Parliament and secretary general of Soweto Parliament, Ramathebane is a champion for accountability and improved service delivery.

His leadership is evident in his work to address critical issues like water shortages and electricity outages, bringing much-needed relief to his community. Beyond infrastructure, Ramathebane is deeply involved in social programs that transform lives.

He collaborates with social workers to resolve domestic challenges, assists families struggling with housing problems and actively supports individuals battling addiction by securing placements for them in rehabilitation centres through the Department of Social Development.

His passion for youth development shines through in his work with schools, where he tackles gangsterism and violence, creating safer learning environments for the next generation.

Ramathebane’s commitment to arts and culture is equally impactful. He organises events that showcase local talent, fostering unity and pride within the community. His generosity extends to donating food and vegetable parcels to vulnerable groups, including the elderly and child-headed households, ensuring they are not left behind.

Perhaps one of his most notable achievements is his success in securing employment for over 50 young people by connecting with local businesses. Ramathebane’s drive to create opportunities and uplift the youth is a testament to his unwavering dedication to community development.

The 365 Men’s Awards aim to recognise men who are making a real difference and with his selfless service and wide-reaching impact, Ramathebane is a true embodiment of what it means to be a community leader.

The date and venue for the award ceremony are yet to be announced.

These awards honours men in categories including Man of the Year, Health, Youth, Leadership, Sports, Education, Arts and Culture, Entrepreneurship and Science and Technology.
