Lenasia South Ext 4 family loses everything in fire, seeks community support
In the early hours of this morning, the Mvinjelwa family of eleven experienced a devastating loss when their home on Matterhorn Street, Lenasia South Ext 4, was engulfed in flames.
The family was abruptly awakened at around 3 am by smoke that had already filled their house. Lindelwa Mvinjelwa recounted the harrowing ordeal to GLOBE POST: “We first had to make sure we all got out safe. We all rushed out with some still undressed.” The panic and urgency of the situation left no room for hesitation, and the family managed to escape with only the clothes on their backs.
Once outside, the Mvinjelwas tried desperately to save their home, but their efforts were in vain.
“We watched our house burn to ashes, we couldn’t do anything with no water (due to daily water cuts) . The fire truck arrived when we had already lost everything,” Lindelwa shared, her voice filled with despair.

The fire consumed everything the family owned, including IDs, birth certificates, food, clothes, and furniture. The loss is unimaginable, leaving the family with nothing and nowhere to turn. They are now reaching out to the community for support.
“We plead with anyone who can help us in any way to please assist, we do not even have a place to sleep tonight,” Lindelwa implored, her eyes brimming with tears.
The Mvinjelwa family urgently needs assistance from well-wishers, businesses, and anyone who can help. Donations of clothing, food, furniture, and financial support would be greatly appreciated as they begin the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch.
