MMC Magwentshu addresses community concerns in Hospital Hills
On Sunday, 10 September, Councillor Lubabalo Magwentshu, the MMC for Community Development in the City of Johannesburg, alongside Ward 120 Councillor Puseletso Nzimande, paid a visit to residents of Hospital Hills 525 to discuss the pressing issue of inadequate recreational facilities in the area.
During the meeting, community members expressed their frustration over the absence of proper sports grounds and a netball court in their neighborhood. They highlighted the recurring problem of rainwater pooling in the middle of the grounds, rendering them unusable for up to 3 to 4 weeks after heavy rains. The lack of a dedicated netball court has forced the local team to make do with a small area on the sidelines, negatively impacting their games. They are also compelled to seek external venues whenever they want to host a tournament.
In response to the community’s grievances, MMC Magwentshu assured residents that action would be taken. He told GLOBE POST: “I will arrange for the councillor and my team to visit this week to assess the issues you’ve raised. Within the next 7 days, we will provide you with a concrete plan of action and specific timelines for addressing these concerns.”
The community members expressed their satisfaction with MMC Magwentshu’s commitment and eagerly anticipate hearing about the proposed solutions within the specified 7-day timeframe.
