The concerted efforts of the police to eradicate drugs from the streets continue to bear positive results as police seize a large consignment of drugs and arrest four suspects

On 11 April , a team comprising of Gauteng Flying Squad, Highway Patrol, K9 units and Customs from SARS operationalised intelligence information about a truck loaded with chemicals used to manufacture drugs.

The said truck was spotted leaving City Deep Port of Entry towards Midrand. The team stopped and searched the truck, discovering the chemicals.

Preliminary investigation led the team to a storage facility where the chemicals where going to be off loaded. Five more storages belonging to one person were also found with chemicals used to produce drugs and few accessories possibly used in a drug lab were also found.

The consignment was seized and four suspects, including the owner of the storage units were arrested for dealing in drugs. The case will be investigated by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations (DPCI), better known as Hawks.

Gauteng, SAPS acting provincial commissioner, Major General, Tommy Mthombeni, applauded the team for their swift response and commitment in fighting drug related crimes.
