What began as a humble school project in 2021 has evolved into a powerful creative journey for 24-year-old Jona Shivambo, the visionary behind the emerging fashion brand Poppins.
Under the umbrella of his creative agency, in.graphica, Jona is making bold moves in streetwear with a brand that doesn’t just speak to style—it screams individuality.
“My brand is unique,” he says with quiet confidence. “Right now, Poppins only offers tees, but I’m working towards expanding into hoodies, tank tops, pants—you name it.”
Driven by passion and a deep love for fashion, Jona’s mission is clear: to create clothing that reflects not just trends, but personality. While he dreams of seeing local icons like A-Reece and Babalwa M wearing his designs, he stays grounded in the process and people who inspire him most—his community and customers.
But it hasn’t been easy. In the early days, Jona faced major challenges, including not knowing what equipment to use or how to operate printing machines. Instead of giving up, he leaned in, learning everything he could and turning his early setbacks into stepping stones.
“I used that struggle as motivation,” he explains. “I took the time to understand my customers, what they expect, and made sure I deliver that—every time.”
For Jona, local success stories prove that greatness isn’t reserved for the already-connected. From the ‘hood or not, his message is the same: if they can do it, so can he—and so can anyone else with enough drive.
As he continues to grow his brand and refine his craft, Jona is inviting everyone to walk with him on this journey. Because in a world where fashion can be loud and fleeting, style—real style—speaks volumes about who you are.
