Kliptown’s Raeez Kuhn, better known as DJ Eezo, is living proof that no obstacle is too great to overcome. His story is one of loss, perseverance and an unbreakable spirit.
At just two years old, tragedy struck when he lost his father in an incident that also left his eyesight permanently damaged. By 2011, he had lost his vision completely. But instead of allowing darkness to define him, he found solace in music-the one thing he could still “see” through sound.
Determined to navigate the world on his own terms, Kuhn taught himself to use computers and phones at just six years old while attending a boarding school. Despite his blindness, he refused to let limitations hold him back. He honed his musical talents and emerged as a DJ, singer, producer and keyboard player, proving that passion and dedication know no barriers.
Yet, despite his talent and inspirational journey, he faces challenges securing bookings in an industry that often overlooks differently-abled artists.
Kuhn told GLOBE POST: “I have inspired many people by turning my disability into an ability, showing everyone that anything is possible. My dream is to help others with disabilities and, one day, open a DJ school to teach and empower the next generation of DJs.”
With the right support, DJ Eezo hopes to amplify his impact, proving that true vision comes from within.
Music promoters and event organisers are encouraged to support and uplift DJ Eezo by booking him. Let’s create opportunities for talent that defies all odds! For bookings, call 067 820 8855.
