South African motorists are set for one of the biggest fuel-price shocks of the year, with petrol and diesel prices rising by more than R3 a litre from Wednesday, 7 October 2026.
The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources has confirmed the following increases:
⛽ 93 Unleaded Petrol: +R3.12/litre
⛽ 95 Unleaded Petrol: +R3.33/litre
🛢️ Diesel 0.05%: +R2.84/litre
🛢️ Diesel 0.005%: +R3.24/litre
🔥 Illuminating Paraffin: +R3.58/litre
🔥 LPGAS in Gauteng: +42 cents/kg
The latest adjustment pushes 95 petrol above the R30-a-litre mark inland, reaching an official price of approximately R30.25/litre in Gauteng. 93 petrol rises to approximately R29.88/litre inland.
