Community spirit and compassion will take centre stage on Saturday, 12 September 2026, as Daxina Striders partners with Love Without Reason South Africa to host the 5K Run4Love Run & Walk at Daxina Primary School. More than just a fitness event, the Run4Love aims to bring residents together for a cause that could make a lasting difference in the lives of children born with cleft lip and palate

Funds raised through the initiative will support Love Without Reason South Africa’s first free cleft lip and palate surgical camp, helping to provide life-changing medical care to children and families in need. The event forms part of a wider effort to raise awareness and ensure that financial circumstances do not stand in the way of children receiving the care they need.

The 5km run and walk will begin at 08:00 at Daxina Primary School in Grosvenor Street, Lenasia South. Open to runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels, the event provides an opportunity for families, schools, community groups and local businesses to come together in support of the cause. Entry costs R100, with medals awarded to all finishers, and the event has received approval from Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) as a fun run and walk.

Event organiser Sharon Raman said the Run4Love is about bringing people together while making a meaningful difference. “This event is about bringing people together for a meaningful cause. Every person who runs, walks, volunteers or supports the initiative is contributing towards giving a child an opportunity to receive life-changing care. We want the community to come out, enjoy the day and, most importantly, know that every step they take has a purpose,” Raman said.

Carrying the message “Run with Purpose | Walk with Compassion | Change a Life,” organisers hope the event will encourage residents to turn compassion into action while raising greater awareness around cleft lip and palate. The campaign also carries the global message #UntilTheWorldIsCleftFree, highlighting the ongoing mission to ensure children born with cleft conditions have access to life-changing surgery and care.

Those unable to register in person can make payment via FNB using the reference “5KM + Your Name.” Residents, families, schools and local businesses are also encouraged to support the initiative by participating, volunteering or sponsoring the event.

For further information, contact Sharon on 082 551 4260, Wendy on 072 881 8108 or Leona on 083 597 3357. As the community prepares to lace up for the cause, the 5K Run4Love promises to be a morning of unity, compassion and purpose, with every kilometre helping to make a difference in a child’s life.
