Lenasia South resident and President of the South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC), Moaaz Casoo recently visited the Holy Kabah in Saudi Arabia, he shares his experience….

Praise be ALLAH (GOD), I have been provided with the honour and opportunity to enter the Holy Kabah in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to pray salaah (PRAYERS to ALLAH – GOD). As the President of the South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC), the Minister of Hajj and Umrah invited myself and few other President’s, Ministers and head of missions on 8 January to pray in the Holy Kabaa after the opening of the Hajj and Umrah conference in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This has to be the greatest honour and highest reward one can receive in this world and most definitely the highlight of my life. This opportunity was only possible due to prayers from my parents, family, friends and the pilgrim’s from South Africa. It has been an unbelievable experience and we pray that all Muslims are provided with such and honour and opportunity In Shaa Allah (If GOD wills).

The Kabaa (“cube”) is the most sacred site in Islam, known as the sacred bayt Allah (House of God). In the centre of Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia stands the holiest shrine in Islam, the Holy Kaaba.

While billions of Muslims offer Salah five times a day facing the Holy Kaaba, many from all around the world come to the House of Allah SWT to perform Tawaf (circumambulate around the Kaaba). The Holy Kaaba is the spiritual centre of Islam. Thus, gathering in the House of the Almighty makes us feel united and equal, gives a sense of uniformity, and teaches us about our true purpose in life. In accordance with the command of Allah SWT (GOD) and following the Sunnah (practices) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Muslims orient themselves towards the Kaaba during the five congregational prayers and relish the ambition of visiting the Holy Kaaba to perform the pilgrimage (Hajj).
