It has been an exciting and eventful week at Lotus, with learners and staff participating in two vibrant school activities. On 4 February, the school hosted a successful Sports Day filled with energy, teamwork and friendly competition. Learners participated in a range of sporting events, showcasing their talent and school spirit while being cheered on by teachers and fellow pupils.

The excitement continued on 5 February when the school joined the global celebration of World Read Aloud Day. Classrooms came alive with storytelling as teachers and learners took turns reading their favourite books aloud. The event aimed to promote literacy, confidence and a love for reading among students.

Principal, Bangs Naidoo, expressed his gratitude to his team and learners:“This was a fun-filled days where learners participated enthusiastically in the various track events, including fun and novelty activities. The many parents in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the action and excitement. A big thank you goes to the teachers for their efforts in creating a special day out of the classroom. The team spirit and healthy competition truly added value to the event.”

Naidoo told GLOBE POST: “World Read Aloud Day was proudly celebrated at Lotus School of Excellence, with learners participating in a variety of engaging reading activities organized by their teachers. It is our fervent wish that parents encourage reading at home.

“At Lotus, we are insisting that our learners read at least one book a month, as we have a fully stocked library available to them. Parents need to provide more reading opportunities at home and encourage children to cut down on social media and spend more time reading. A reading home is a step towards scholastic success,” he added.
