Motorists across South Africa will have to brace for higher fuel costs this week, as the Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has confirmed that fuel prices will increase from Wednesday, 3 December.
Petrol users will pay 29 cents more per litre, while diesel users face a significantly steeper rise of between 65 and 82 cents per litre. The price of illuminating paraffin and LPGAS will also increase.
According to the department, the increases are driven by a sharp rise in international refined fuel prices, caused by unplanned refinery outages that disrupted supply and pushed up global margins. These supply pressures have now filtered through to the local market, prompting the latest adjustments.
