City Power has confirmed multiple electricity outages affecting parts of Johannesburg’s Deep South this morning, with repair teams already on the ground.

According to a statement issued by City Power’s Public Relations and Communication Department at 07:30, the power system remains constrained, and residents are urged to reduce electricity consumption to avoid further overload.

The affected areas include Ennerdale Extension 6, where about 90% of power has been restored after technicians located a faulty cable. Repairs are scheduled to be completed today, though some homes remain without electricity. In Lenasia South, outages continue to affect Extensions 1, 2, and parts of Extension 4. A City Power team is expected to patrol the line this morning before repairs can commence. Power interruptions have also been reported in Thembelihle’s N and F sections, where operators have been dispatched to investigate the fault.

City Power confirmed that loadshedding has been suspended, but warned residents that the network is still under severe pressure. Customers are advised to switch off and unplug appliances during outages to prevent damage from power surges when electricity is restored.

Later this morning, City Power issued an update confirming that Eskom has been dispatched to patrol the line, as the fault has been identified on Eskom’s side.

Residents experiencing isolated outages are encouraged to log a fault via citypower.mobi
or call 011 490 7484, or use the toll-free number 0800 003 156 (open daily 06h00–18h00). Updates are also available via the WhatsApp outage channel and on X (Twitter) at @CityPowerJhb.

City Power apologised for the inconvenience caused and assured residents that teams are working to restore supply as quickly as possible.
