South African motorists will see some relief at the pumps from Wednesday, 4 November 2026, following the latest fuel price adjustments announced by the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources.
According to the department, both grades of petrol (93 and 95) will decrease by just 1 cent per litre, while diesel users will benefit from more substantial reductions.
Diesel with 0.05% sulphur will decrease by 109.82 cents per litre, while diesel with 0.005% sulphur will drop by 119.82 cents per litre.
However, households relying on alternative fuels will face higher costs. Illuminating paraffin will increase by R2.75 per litre at wholesale level, while the maximum retail price of LPG will rise by R1.83 per kilogram.
The department attributed the adjustments to rising international oil prices, a weaker rand and changes to fuel levies.
Despite global fuel price pressures, temporary reductions in the general fuel levy have helped cushion the impact on petrol and diesel prices.
The new prices take effect on Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
