The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) is encouraging all eligible voters to register or update their registration details during this weekend’s voter registration drive ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.
Voter registration stations will be open from 8am to 5pm on both Friday, 20 June, and Saturday, 21 June, giving eligible residents the opportunity to register to vote or update their registration details.
Residents are urged to visit their nearest voting station to ensure they are correctly registered in the ward where they live.

Residents who are unable to visit a registration station in person can also register to vote or update their voter registration details online using the official IEC voter registration portal
The IEC has urged all eligible citizens not to miss this opportunity to register and verify their voting details ahead of the municipal elections. Residents are encouraged to bring a valid South African identity document or smart ID card when visiting a registration station.
