On 18 March, several early childhood development centres from Lenasia South came together to support a greening initiative led by Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo ahead of Human Rights Day, promoting environmental awareness among young learners.
The initiative, which encourages schools to adopt parks and take part in activities such as planting trees and cleaning public spaces, saw participation from Small Steps Academy, Good Hope, Tsepiso Kiddie’s World, Tshepiso ya Lerato and Little Tejunomo Garden Day Care.
Learners took part in fun and educational outdoor activities aimed at teaching them the importance of protecting the environment while also encouraging teamwork and physical activity. The programme aligns environmental responsibility with the values of Human Rights Day, highlighting the right to a clean and healthy environment.
