The grieving parents of Asheek Singh, a 33-year-old Lenasia man brutally murdered on 15 June, are calling for justice and community support in the wake of what they describe as a senseless and cowardly killing.

Asheek, affectionately known as Sheeky, lived in Extension 1 and was murdered in Extension 9.

His devastated mother, Narisha Nuncoo, told GLOBE POST: “We are heartbroken and devastated by this senseless and brutal killing. Asheek did not deserve to die like this. No family should have to endure this pain – we demand justice and accountability for his death.”

One suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody at Sun City Prison. A bail hearing is set for 13 August.

Narisha added: “Lenasia residents are too scared to speak. These guys are known thugs, brutal, heartless and they play dirty. But I am speaking out. All we want is justice for Asheek. We need help to spread this far and wide. This has to stop we can’t keep living in fear and burying our children. We demand that the suspect be denied bail and that all those responsible be brought to justice .”

Asheek’s father, Sudesh Singh, said: “We fear that Asheek’s case might not receive the attention it truly deserves. This must not become another forgotten case. We want accountability. We want answers. We want our son’s voice to be heard.”

He also voiced concern over the early stages of the police investigation, suggesting that critical oversights could hinder justice. “We are not looking to sensationalise this story. We’re simply asking for awareness and courage. If anyone in the community knows something, we urge them to come forward. Too many people are being silenced by fear,” he added.

Asheek’s family describe him as a kind-hearted and ambitious young man whose life was full of promise. He was vibrant, hardworking and deeply community-oriented. He had a stable job, a supportive family and a love for the finer things in life. Known for his generosity, Asheek often went out of his way to help others from coaching soccer to taking part in local Diwali events, he was always willing to give his time and energy to uplift those around him. His sudden and tragic death has left his loved ones shattered.

The Singh family has since created a Facebook page Justice for Asheek Singh to honour his memory and gather support in their fight for justice.
