Two of Lenasia Table Tennis Association’s top athletes, Danisha Patel and Chetan Nathoo, are set to represent South Africa at the 2025 ITTF Southern Africa Regional Table Tennis Championships, taking place from 12 to 14 July at the Windhoek Showgrounds, Mopani Hall in Namibia.

Patel, the defending women’s singles champion, and Nathoo, a consistent performer in the men’s category, will be flying the South African flag high in a tournament that features elite players from countries including Angola, Botswana, Namibia, and Lesotho.

Adding to the team’s strength is Sameera Maal, a former South African champion and current LTTA member, who joins the national coaching team alongside Kevin Smith. Sameera’s rich experience in competitive play and coaching is expected to provide valuable insight and mentorship during the high-stakes tournament.

Speaking ahead of the event, Danisha Patel shared her excitement: “It’s a great honour to represent South Africa once again on this stage. The competition is going to be tough, but we are prepared and motivated to give our best.”

The South African team, selected by the South African Table Tennis Board (SATTB), comprises some of the country’s top talents. The women’s squad includes Mushfiquh Kalam, Rochica Sonday, Danisha Patel and Lailaa Edwards, while the men’s team features Chetan Nathoo, Luke Abrahams, Liam Beuks and Cuten Lodewyk.

The LTTA expressed pride in its players, reaffirming its commitment to developing top-tier talent and promoting excellence on both national and international platforms. Patel and Nathoo’s achievements continue to inspire the local Lenasia community and the broader South African table tennis fraternity.

“Go Team South Africa – LTTA is behind you every step of the way!” the association said in a statement.
