In a powerful show of unity, residents of Liverpool Street and surrounding areas have come together to tackle the growing pothole problem themselves – proving that when a community stands together, real change happens.
This morning, repair work officially resumed through a community-led project driven by Ward committee member Joy Govender, in partnership with Naven Govender and Triple J Cleaning Services.
Joy told GLOBE POST: “We started collecting bags of tar about a week and a half ago. Each household contributes one bag, which costs R100. Today, we were able to resume the repair work with what we’ve raised so far.”
The target is to collect R10,000 – the amount needed to complete the road repairs.
“We’ve already bought some tar and started fixing the roads. There’s still money left and we plan to buy more as the community continues to contribute,” she added.
This initiative is more than just filling potholes – it’s about restoring pride, safety and hope to the neighbourhood.
