This ever-popular community HCC Annual Shivratri Yathra will be held on Sunday, 23 February.
The HCC Annual Maha Shivratri Yathra is a community spiritual event, which attracts devotees from all over the province and beyond. Traditionally Yathra alternates between Lenasia, Extension 9 & 10 and Lenasia South. The Maha Shivratri Yathra, which is in fact a pilgrimage directed at enhancing Unity and Universal peace and precedes the observance of Maha Shivratri, which takes place on Wednesday, 26 February, and will be observed by Temples across the world.
This year the HCC Shivratri Yathra commences at 7am, at the Shree Siva Soobramaniar Thirukoil on Heron Street, Ext 1 Lenasia, with a Hawan as we pray for peace, love, good values and a good, healthy quality of life for all beings; for everyone, irrespective of religion, colour or caste.
The Yathra which will average 5.6km, will culminate at the Vishnu Mandir(SVDS) on Penguin Avenue, Ext 1 Lenasia, where after the closing prayers, devotees and participants are invited to share in Maha Prasadam, or Lunch. All Temples and organisations wishing to enter floats or help, please bring your float or banner and join the pilgrimage and the chanting. Any member of the HCC can be contacted for information. All Temples and the public are invited to participate in this super-phenomenal spiritual observance and are welcome to dress in the attire and colours of their organisations, or simply in white.Please remember to apply some sun-block, and wear sunglasses and caps, to protect yourselves from the rays of the sun.
