Spears Pool Academy recently hosted the Gauteng Blackball Development District Trials from 26 to 27 October, drawing passionate players from across the region.
The top 25 players selected will move forward to represent their districts at the Gauteng Provincial Blackball Trials, scheduled for 23 and 24 November at Spears. Here, they’ll face off against elite players from other Gauteng districts in an exciting test of skill and teamwork.
Spears Pool Academy proudly sends five teams, each with five talented players from the local community. The Academy celebrates these players’ dedication, passion and commitment, recognising the powerful impact of sports in motivating individuals to aim higher in life.
With the largest pool of development players in Gauteng and across South Africa, Spears Pool Academy boasts over 100 registered league players from Lenasia South and nearby areas.
Founded by Craig Moodley in 2022, the Academy was established to give back to the community, particularly offering single parents, women and young people a place to embrace pool as a social sport. Over the past two to three years, it has grown to welcome a diverse group of players from all walks of life and has started to attract local business sponsorships for t-shirts and pool events.
