Sphesihle Nkosi, widely recognized as Cici, is a 21-year-old trailblazer hailing from Newcastle and currently making waves in Lenasia, Johannesburg. Her story is one of determination, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of her dreams in the fashion and pageantry realm. Cici’s entrepreneurial spirit has led her to create Miss Lenasia Township, Miss Lenasia Schools and now – CC Couture, set to launch next year, with plans to involve models as brand ambassadors and influencers. Her goal is to collaborate with models scouted from Cici Beauty Pageants through Inspire Modeling Agency.
Despite the glamour now surrounding her as a fashion model, Brand Ambassador at Mapaintana Brand, Brand Designer at CC Couture, and the brain behind Cici Beauty Pageants, her journey was far from easy.
Cici’s ascent began in 2021 when she ventured into modeling as a pageant contestant in Miss Newcastle Treasure. Although she secured the title of Miss Photogenic, she soon realized that her passion lay not in conventional pageantry but in clothes and showcasing fashion. This realisation steered her towards collaborating with a local fashion designer in Newcastle, igniting her love for the art of clothing presentation.
In a bold move to escalate her career, Cici relocated to Johannesburg in 2022, seeking modeling agencies. Instead of finding legitimate opportunities, she encountered scammers – a common hurdle in the industry. Undeterred by this setback, she momentarily paused to reflect and birthed the idea of Miss Lenasia Township, a successful pageant competition. Learning from the challenges, she later expanded her venture by establishing Miss Lenasia Schools, culminating in the birth of Cici Beauty Pageants.
Despite facing challenges, Cici’s resilience remained unshakable. She eventually found her footing with Inspire Modeling Agency and began networking with industry professionals, including pageant organizers, fashion designers, and photographers. This networking opened doors to fashion shows, collaborations, and brand ambassadorships, marking significant milestones in her career.
Reflecting on her journey, Cici acknowledges the lack of sponsorship but remains hopeful for a future where her agency and pageant organization achieve unprecedented success. She emphasizes the importance of starting locally, believing that success comes from perseverance, networking, and staying true to one’s passion.
