The Foundation for Education and Social Justice Africa reminds Gauteng parents that applications for admission to Grade 1 and 8 will close on Friday 21 July 2023.

The Foundation further reminds parents in the Gauteng province about the importance of submitting applications for admission before it is too late.

All parents are urged to apply for space on time in order to avoid a last-minute rush as the closing date approaches.

It is common cause that every year, the Foundation receives many queries and complaints from parents and learners who are not placed due to one reason or another.

The Foundation salutes MEC Matome Chiloane and the Gauteng Department of Education for reminding people about the importance of applying on time.

“In particular we salute Mr Steve Mabona, the most active and visible face of GDE for issuing regular updates especially now as we move towards the closing deadline,” said the Foundation.

Parents of learners who will be doing Grade 1 and/or Grade 8 in the academic year 2024 should urgently ensure that their information and those of their young ones are uploaded on the relevant website of the department which is http://www.gdeadmissions.gov.za

Of importance, after inserting login details, parents should select three of their preferred schools which the system will provide in accordance with the address selected by the parent, be it work address or residential address.

At the end of the online application, parents should not forget to conclude the application process by submitting the required documents.

The required documents are as follows:

  1. Proof of Home Address
  2. Proof of Work Address,
  3. Certified ID/Passport,
  4. Certified Birth Certificate,
  5. Clinic Card

Parents who struggle to register should not hesitate to contact the department or the Foundation which has always been ready to assist parents at anytime.

The closing date for applications is Friday 21 July 2023. The Foundation wishes all parents the best of luck as they prosecute the difficult struggle that will help their children to create a future for themselves.
