As a way of giving back to the community and keeping children in school, on Wednesday, 12 April, Let’s Make a Difference donated 10 pairs of school shoes at Buyani Primary School in Finetown, they will donate another 10 on Monday, 17 April.

By Lebohang Ndashe – Intern

Lifa Sibiya (27), the proprietor of Bafenele CC – a clothing manufacturing business that specializes in printing – established the organisation in 2020 as a food parcel initiative.

Let’s Make a Difference aims at bringing dignity to less fortunate pupils through uniform and school shoe donations and has teamed up with Dandelion – an organisation that gives pads and sanitary packs to girls in need.

Sibiya told GLOBE POST: “I noticed that many kids in my community struggle with proper uniforms and as a small business owner, I wanted to make a difference. The biggest challenge we face is the overwhelming number of learners that need our help. It is unfortunate that we cannot help every child and that’s heartbreaking.”

Sibiya said his proudest moment was when they donated full uniforms to three children who do not have birth certificate and the joy in their parents’ eyes motivated him to do more for the community.

At the moment, the initiative is self-funded and utilises social media to spread awareness and seek potential sponsors, Sibiya appeals to the public for donations and thanks the Finetown community for the warm reception.

For more information or donations call 072 795 5272 or send a message to Lifa Glenn Sibiya on Facebook.
