On Friday, 17 March , Ward 7 residents were left shocked following an unexpected social media announcement of resignation by ANC Cllr Amelia Zama.

Taking to her socials, Zama confirmed her departure from office citing Ward 7 Councilor resigns with immediate effect that she is tired of begging for proper service delivery for Ennerdale and Finetown while areas like Soweto are always catered for and with prompt responses.
Evonomic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) Ward 7 chairperson, Thabiso Thuputlela expressed their party’s sentiments on the resignation.
“We do not recognise the manner in which the councilor has resigned as long as the council speaker not received her resignation letter, we note that she has not yet resigned, period,” said Thuputlela.
The councillor’s resignation means that Ward 7 will be heading for a by-election soon to select a new leader.
