What was started at the Horsley’s household in Ennerdale by the late Robert Horsley Snr as a way of educating the youth about fitness and health soon became one of the popular fitness centres in the area.

In 2005, the late bodybuilder, Horsley Snr established Robbys Health & Fitness Centre at Jodee Complex in Ext 1 before moving it to the Ennerdale Ext 9 Stadium in 2008.
The fitness centre, now managed by brothers, Clint and Robert Horsley Jnr still operates at the Ext 9 Stadium.
“Our late father, ‘Uncle Robby’ participated at a number of bodybuilding competitions where he also marketed the gym attracting clients from as far as Eldorado Park, Orange Farm and Lenasia to name a few. We do not only offer fitness programs, we are a community,” Robert told GLOBE POST.
He added: “As a community gym we face a number of challenges such as loadshedding, cable theft and water shortage amongst others, and to keep my father’s vision alive we constantly have to keep the gym affordable for everyone.”
Robbys Health & Fitness Centre has produced national bodybuilding champions that include the Horsley brothers, Tim Naicker and Terry Thomson who also qualified for the Arnold Classics – South Africa’s biggest international multi-sport festival, health, fitness and lifestyle expo .
Robert added: “Tim Naicker was not just a member, he was my father’s pharmacist, friend, confidante, a great supporter and sponsored my father’s bodybuilding competitions,”
The Horsley brothers aim to bring back the fitness competitions which were introduced by Uncle Robby.
“We want to positively change people’s lives, physically, mentally and spiritually. Our members leave the gym satisfied, confident and revived,” Robert shared their vision.
Horsley’s Fitness Centre has about 800 members and three permanent employees with Horsley siblings occasionally assisting.
