On 24 March, Ennerdale welcomed a new beacon of togetherness for its senior citizens as the Siyathandwa Senior Social Club officially launched with a heartwarming mission-to foster unity, social connections and a sense of belonging among the elderly.
To mark its debut, the club embarked on a meaningful visit to the Mid Ennerdale Oasis Senior Social Club, where seniors shared stories, exchanged experiences and strengthened ties with their peers from neighbouring areas. The gathering was filled with laughter, wisdom and a renewed sense of community spirit.
The club’s primary goal is to create a supportive environment where seniors can engage in enriching activities and learn from one another. Meeting twice a week, members enjoy interactive sessions, games and creative hobbies such as knitting and crocheting.
Looking ahead, Siyathandwa plans to visit other senior clubs, expanding its network and offering members even more opportunities to socialise and find inspiration.
Linda Roberts, co-founder of Siyathandwa, told Globe Post: “We had a wonderful time at the Oasis Senior Social Club. The experience was uplifting-we connected, shared stories and came back home inspired to build a similar sense of belonging within our own club.”
Through companionship, engaging activities and shared experiences, Siyathandwa aims to ensure that Ennerdale’s seniors embrace their golden years with joy, excitement, and purpose.
