The festive spirit of Diwali illuminated Turtledove Avenue in Extension 1, Lenasia, as local resident Hitesh Kanjee transformed the street into a breathtaking display of light and color.

This year’s decorations, organized with the support of Kara Nichhas, marked yet another memorable celebration, attracting scores of residents and visitors who marveled at the vibrant Diwali-themed display.

Hitesh, who has shifted his passion from fireworks to street decorations, sees his elaborate designs as a way to share the beauty and significance of Diwali with the next generation. He shared:“I hope to inspire youngsters to see Diwali beyond just celebrations. It’s about embracing our heritage, family bonds, and the joy of giving light to the community.”

For Hitesh, Lenasia holds a special place as the ideal Diwali destination, where traditions are cherished and the community comes together. Year after year, his home serves as the heart of a family reunion, drawing loved ones near and far. “There’s no place like Lenasia to experience the true magic of Diwali,” he added, expressing a sentiment echoed by many.

As twilight settled on Friday evening, the street came alive with flickering candles and intricate displays, casting a warm glow that resonated with passersby and residents alike. Motorists slowed down to admire the spectacle, and families took in the scene with joy and wonder, marveling at the colors and intricate patterns that lit up Turtledove Avenue.

Hitesh’s display is more than just a visual treat; it’s a testament to the strength of community bonds and the power of tradition. For those who gathered on Friday night, the dazzling lights and decorations served as a reminder of the deep-rooted values that Diwali celebrates: unity, hope, and light triumphing over darkness.
