To celebrate the athletes who participated in this year’s Comrades Marathon, Daxina Striders hosted an awards ceremony at Daxina Primary School in Lenasia South on 7 July 2024.

The event also honored Kovalan Moodley’s remarkable achievement of completing his 40th consecutive marathon and All ten Daxina Striders athletes who started the marathon and finished.This marking a 100% completion rate, which is a significant accomplishment.

Wendy Moodley General Secretary of Daxina Striders told GLOBE POST: “The Daxina Striders Comrades Awards 2024 was a celebration of all Comrades finishers and Kovalan Moodley’s 40th consecutive Comrades. The members who participated and were awarded are: Brian Godzwana who was our 1st runner in and achieving a silver Medal for the club,Ndivho Munyai, Robert Munyai ,Lucky Godzwana, John Mpofu, Desmond Sithole, Rudelle Moodley and we missed our two Athletes who stays out of the provice Komalan Moodley and Thendo Nemukula.”

“There was a special award given to Kovalan displaying his 40. Comrades Medals over the 40 years from 1983-2024. Each Comrades athletes shared their inspirational stories and their journeys of the Comrades 2024 Marathon.Our aim was to encourage many of our Newbies to take on the Challenge next year 2025 and to build and encourage our athletes. Daxina Striders are very proud of our Comrades Marathon Athletes for Accomplishing The Ultimate Human Race of 85.91km,” she added.
