On 20 January, the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Development Planning in the City of Johannesburg, Eunice Mgcina, continued the City’s Back to School Campaign with visits to Southview Secondary School and Kiasha Park Primary School in Ward 120, Region G.

Posting on social media, MMC Mgcina said the initiative aims to support learners and motivate them as they begin the new academic year: “Today we continued with the Back To School Campaign with visits to the Southview Secondary School and Kiasha Park Primary School in Ward 120 in Region G.”

She added: “During the visits a local supermarket chain gave back to the community and donated much-needed school supplies while we also shared words of encouragement to the learners for the academic year ahead!”

MMC Mgcina urged learners to focus on their studies emphasising the importance of education as a foundation for personal growth and community development.

The Back to School Campaign forms part of the City’s ongoing efforts to create a supportive learning environment and strengthen partnerships between government, schools and the private sector.
