Ennerdale activist seeks toiletry donations for 50 children

Amelia Naude pleads for community support to provide essential personal care products to 40–50 children in Ext 8. Donations of soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, face cloths, lotion, Vaseline, roll-on and spray are welcome.

Amelia Naude is appealing to residents and small businesses to donate toiletries for 40 to 50 children living in RDP houses near Sodarite Crescent, Extension 8. Naude, who has been an activist for 23 years, is organising the Christmas Giving 2026 toiletry drive to help children from less fortunate households.

She had previously hosted Christmas parties for the children over the years but decided to take a different approach this year by collecting toiletry bags containing essential personal care items. She hopes the donations will provide practical support that the children can continue to benefit from beyond the festive season.

The requested items include face soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, face cloths, lotion or Vaseline, roll-on and spray. Naude said she already had a database of the children who would benefit from the initiative, as she had supported them through her previous Christmas activities. However, she said she had received limited donations so far, with one bag of sanitary pads and toothbrushes among the contributions.

“I asked political parties for assistance, but no one could assist. I am now appealing to community members and small businesses to help where they can,” she said.

Naude, who runs a hair salon from home, said every contribution would make a difference in helping her reach the target. The handover date has not yet been confirmed, but she hopes to distribute the toiletry bags on December 16 or before Christmas.

“I would prefer it to be on the 16th of December or before Christmas,” she said.

Community members and businesses willing to contribute can contact Amelia Naude on 073 502 5239.
