Police uncover suspected drug-manufacturing operation at family home in Meadowlands
Four suspects aged between 21 and 25 have been arrested following the discovery of a suspected drug laboratory at a residential property in Meadowlands, Soweto, on Friday, 16 October.
According to Gauteng police, the arrests followed an intelligence-driven operation involving Gauteng Organised Crime Investigations’ Tracing and Narcotics teams, Police Emergency Services Flexi and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI).
The operation began on the evening of Thursday, 15 October, when police conducted surveillance at the property after receiving information about suspected drug-related activities.
Police received further information indicating that the suspects might be in the process of moving suspected drugs, prompting officers to proceed to the premises, where the four individuals were arrested.

During the operation, officers discovered what appeared to be a drug-manufacturing operation in a room at the back of the family residence.
A substantial quantity of pills, suspected to have been manufactured elsewhere, was also found at the property.
Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management personnel were mobilised to process the scene. Police said equipment and chemicals discovered at the premises would be seized for further investigation and analysis.
The case has since been handed over to the DPCI’s Serious Organised Crime Investigations unit for further investigation.
The four suspects are expected to appear in court soon to face drug-related charges.
Police have not disclosed the identities of the suspects or provided further details about the suspected substances pending the outcome of the investigation.
Globe Post will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
