Ennerdale Combined Emergency Services (ECES) brought residents together for a cancer awareness flea market and 2.5km fun walk on October 3, honouring people affected by cancer while continuing its efforts to secure an ambulance for Ennerdale and surrounding areas.
The event aimed to remember those who have lost their lives to cancer, support people currently undergoing treatment and celebrate survivors. It also offered an opportunity for residents to show solidarity with patients and their families. Participants wore pink in recognition of Cancer Awareness Month, with the colour symbolising hope, courage and strength.
The 2.5km walk served as a tribute to those diagnosed with cancer and those who have passed away, while reminding affected families that they have the support of their community. Beyond raising awareness, ECES continues to pursue its goal of securing an ambulance to improve emergency medical support for Ennerdale and surrounding communities.
The organisation thanked the businesses, community partners and special guests who supported the event and its fundraising efforts. Those acknowledged included Finetown Radio, Face of Finetown, Miss Ennerdale and her princesses, Signature Salon, Busy Corner Carwash, Sue Sweet Shop, Piet’s Carwash and Hyperland.
ECES expressed appreciation for their generosity and commitment to supporting cancer awareness and the organisation’s community initiatives. The event highlighted the role of community participation in supporting people affected by cancer while drawing attention to the need for emergency medical services in Ennerdale and surrounding areas.
