Fifteen Grade R learners from Wasalaam Nursery and Pre School showcased their confidence, communication skills and courage during the school’s Annual Speech Contest held on Saturday, 25 July 2026.
The event, which was attended by parents and members of the community, provided the young learners with an opportunity to develop their public-speaking abilities and demonstrate their confidence in front of an audience.
The contest highlighted the importance of introducing children to public speaking from an early age, while also encouraging them to express themselves with confidence.
Adjudicators Sameera Bamath and Zineera Buccas praised all the learners for their participation and effort. According to Bamath, the competition was particularly close, with the final positions being decided by just one mark.
The results were as follows:
🏆 First position: Lamees Wilderman
🥈 Second position: Hanifa Laina Musa
🥉 Third position: Sufiyaan Mia
⭐ Most Promising Speaker: Muawwaz Doba
School principal Apa Aysha Wadiwala congratulated all the learners who participated, saying the school was proud of every child who had the courage to stand up and speak.
“Building confidence and good character is at the heart of what we do,” said Wadiwala.
Wasalaam Nursery and Pre School offers Speech and Drama among its extra-mural activities at no additional cost, giving learners further opportunities to develop their communication and performance skills.
