Ken and Barbie Preschool/Daycare recently celebrated Mandela Day with a series of impactful activities, leaving a lasting impression on both the young learners and the community. Sakina Kara, the principal of the preschool, expressed her delight at the event’s success and extended her heartfelt gratitude to the parents who contributed non-perishable items for the occasion.

“Our learners were educated about the extraordinary legacy of Mr. Nelson Mandela and his pivotal role in South Africa,” Kara said. “We extend our deepest gratitude to the parents who generously provided non-perishable items for this event; your contributions were invaluable and greatly appreciated.”

The day began with an inspiring visit to a local park, where the children learned about environmental responsibility by dedicating 67 minutes to cleaning the area. This act of service honored Mr. Mandela’s legacy and instilled the importance of caring for the environment in the young learners.

Following the park visit, the children and staff made a heartwarming trip to a nearby old age home, where they distributed the donated groceries to the residents. The executive mayor of Johannesburg, Mr. Kabelo Gwamanda, and Councillor Imraan Moosa also graced the event with their presence, adding to the day’s significance.

“This was a day filled with pride and purpose, as we came together as a community to make a tangible difference in the lives of those at the old age home and the orphanage,” Kara remarked. “It was a shining example of what we can achieve when we work together with compassion and dedication.”

Kara emphasized the importance of extending such efforts beyond Mandela Day. “I believe we should not do this only for Mandela Day but help the community on a monthly basis.”

The event’s success is a testament to the collective efforts of the preschool, the parents, and the community, demonstrating the powerful impact of unity and compassion.

“Thank you for your unwavering support and active participation in making this day a resounding success,” Kara concluded with heartfelt pride.

Ken and Barbie Preschool/Daycare is committed to nurturing young minds and fostering a sense of community and responsibility in their learners, inspired by the enduring legacy of Nelson Mandela.
