Suspects apprehended for possession of unlicensed firearm and drugs in Kliptown and Eldorado Park

Two suspects have been arrested in separate incidents for possession of unlicensed firearms and drugs on Monday, 15 July. The first suspect, aged 29, was arrested in Beacon Road, Kliptown, for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The firearm, a Baby Brown with an erased serial number, was found with one live round. The second suspect, aged 33, was arrested in John Scott Ext 8 for possession of drugs and live ammunition. Three Mandrax tablets and six live rounds were found in his possession by members of the Eldorado Park SAPS, whilst they were performing stop and searches in the area.

The members were conducting the famous Operations, which is Operation Skoonmaak and OperationTeka Hinkwaswo. Cellphone evidence was also recovered from the suspects, which is currently being investigated.We commend our officers for their tireless efforts in keeping our communities safe and removing illegal firearms and drugs from our streets.

Anyone with information of any illegal activities at Eldorado Park can contact SAPS on 011 946 0300 or 082 444 3001. Alternatively, tipsters may opt to remain anonymous and call SAPS Crime Stop Hotline on 08600 10111.
