20 armed men bomb Lenasia South ATM, fail to access cash
At around 2am on Saturday, 17 January, a group of about 20 men bombed a FNB ATM at the BP garage on Wimbledon and Golden Highway in Lenasia South Ext 4.
The group which was on foot fired several gunshots randomly into the air.
SAPS spokesperson, Cst Kholo told Globe Post: “The ATM was damaged on the side however no cash was taken.”
Emergency services and law enforcement swiftly responded to the scene.
The incident comes a month after unknown perpetrators bombed FNB and Nedbank ATMs outside the Hyperland Supermarket at the crossroads of Provincial Road and Town Road in Ennerdale on 2 December.
The suspects managed to flee the scene with a large amount of cash before law enforcement arrived.
The authorities urge anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in their ongoing investigation.
