On Sunday, 21 January two vehicles, a white Toyota bakkie, and a grey Honda SUV were involved in a tragic collision which led to lose of lives on the N12 East and Golden Highway in Eldorado Park.

Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers swiftly responded to the scene at approximately 20.20pm. initial reports indicate that the Toyota bakkie, traveling west on the N12, lost control and collided head-on with the Honda SUV, which was traveling east on the same highway.

The consequences of this collision were severe. The male driver of the Toyota bakkie suffered fatal injuries on impact. The male driver of the Honda and two female passengers sustained serious injuries and were promptly transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, one female passenger from the Honda succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene.

The tragedy has prompted the initiation of a culpable homicide case, which will be investigated by the Eldorado Park South African Police Service (SAPS). Preliminary suspicions point to the driver of the Toyota bakkie being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

This heart-wrenching incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of impaired driving. The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department Communication Unit issued a statement, confirming the tragic details of the accident.

Superintendent Xolani Fihla expressed condolences to the affected families, urging heightened awareness and responsibility on the roads. The incident serves as a call to action for enhanced efforts in curbing instances of driving under the influence of alcohol and ensuring the safety of all road users.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families affected by this unfortunate incident.

Where are all the relevant departments to see for drunk drivers. ie
    Metro Police
    SAPS
    Gauteng Traffic
    Crime Wardens
    National Traffic Police
We have so many different Traffic departments yet a person is allowed to drive under the influence of alcohol and kill innocent people.
They would rather stop vehicles and take cold drink and food money
